Understanding Defender (Classic) Left Front Wing (Fender)

The front wing, also called a fender, covers the front wheel and runs from the bumper to the front door. On classic Defenders the wing is a separate aluminium panel with a flat top, and its inner wing and mounting points are prone to corrosion. On Discovery 3, Discovery 4 and Range Rover Sport, the wing carries the side vent trim.

On South African right-hand-drive vehicles, the left front wing is on the passenger side and is exposed to kerbs and verges.

Common Questions About Defender (Classic) left front wing (fender)

Is the side vent on my Discovery or Range Rover Sport sold with the wing?

Usually not. The vent trim is a separate part and must be transferred or ordered separately.

Can I fit a Defender wing myself?

Classic Defender wings are bolted on and are a manageable job with basic tools, although corroded bolts may need cutting. Newer models' wings involve removing lights, bumpers and trims.

Does a new wing need painting?

Yes, new wings are normally supplied in primer. A used wing in your colour code may need blending.

What should I send to order a left front wing?

The VIN and paint code, and for Defenders, whether it is a standard or modified wing.
