Parts commonly needed for the Range Rover Sport (L461)

For the L461, parts requests are still mainly accident and damage related: LED headlights and tail-lights, bumpers, grilles, mirrors, wheels and parking sensors. Brake pads and discs become relevant as maintenance plans expire. Engine and hybrid parts differ completely between the D350, P400, P510e and V8, so the VIN is essential. Check for open recalls with a Land Rover dealer first, because that work is free. As these vehicles leave their maintenance plans, service filters, brake parts and air suspension components are likely to become more common requests, and we can confirm the right part for your derivative from the VIN.

About the Range Rover Sport (L461)

The third-generation Range Rover Sport went on sale in South Africa in October 2022, with the D350 Dynamic S listed at R2,001,200 at launch. South Africa received three six-cylinder engines, all with an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive: the D350 3.0 turbodiesel with 258kW and 700Nm, the 3.0 turbo petrol with 294kW and 550Nm, and a 3.0 plug-in hybrid with 375kW and 700Nm. Jaguar Land Rover South Africa also confirmed just 60 units of the 390kW twin-turbo V8 P530. Because the L461 is so new, most local vehicles are still under warranty or maintenance plans, and demand for replacement parts is mostly driven by accident damage, wheels and brakes, and electronic components rather than mechanical wear. As these vehicles age, parts matching will depend heavily on powertrain: the diesel, petrol, hybrid and V8 share the body but very little under the bonnet. Owners should also be aware that Jaguar Land Rover South Africa has notified the National Consumer Commission of a recall covering selected Range Rover Sports with the AJ20-D6 diesel, which dealers repair at no charge. For parts outside warranty or recall cover, send us your VIN and we will confirm the exact fitment for your derivative.

Known Range Rover Sport (L461) problems

The faults owners and specialists report most often on this generation, and where to look for the parts involved.

AJ20-D6 idler pulley recall

An NCC-published recall covers selected Range Rover Sports sold from March 2024 to June 2024: the auxiliary drive belt idler pulley on certain AJ20-D6 diesels can over-rotate and damage the oil pressure and temperature sensor, causing an oil leak. Dealers replace the pulley free.

Recall work is carried out free by Land Rover dealers. Check your VIN with a dealer before buying parts for this.

Keeping a Range Rover Sport (L461) running

Most L461 Range Rover Sports are still covered by warranty or maintenance plans, so servicing normally follows the dealer schedule. Check for open recalls before paying for repairs: Jaguar Land Rover South Africa notified the National Consumer Commission of an idler pulley concern on certain AJ20-D6 diesels in Range Rover Sports sold from March to June 2024, which dealers fix free. Keep the plug-in hybrid charged and serviced according to Land Rover's schedule.
