Understanding Air Suspension Compressors
The air suspension compressor is an electric pump that supplies air to the system. It includes an air dryer that removes moisture so water does not collect in the valve block and springs. On many Land Rovers it is mounted underneath the vehicle, where heat, dust and water crossings take their toll.
Compressors wear with running time. A system with a leak forces the compressor to run constantly, which overheats it and shortens its life, so a failed compressor is often a symptom of another problem.

Questions
Common Questions About Land Rover air suspension compressors
Why did my air suspension compressor fail?
Most compressors fail from wear after long service or from overwork caused by an air leak elsewhere in the system. A stuck compressor relay can also leave the pump running continuously until it burns out. Check for leaks and test the relay before fitting a new compressor.
Can a Land Rover air compressor be rebuilt?
Rebuild kits with new piston rings and seals exist for some compressors and can work if the motor and cylinder are in good condition. A worn or burnt-out motor usually means a replacement compressor is the better option.
Should I replace the air dryer with the compressor?
Yes, where it is serviceable separately. A saturated dryer lets moisture into the system, which can damage the valve block and air springs.
What do I need to order an air suspension compressor?
Send the VIN. Compressors differ between Discovery 3 and 4, Range Rover Sport, Range Rover generations and newer models, and some changed during production.
