Understanding Body Parts
Land Rover body parts include bumpers, doors, wings, bonnets, tailgates, quarter panels and mirrors. Construction varies widely across the range. The classic Defender has aluminium body panels bolted and riveted to a steel chassis and steel bulkhead, while modern Range Rovers and the Range Rover Sport from the L494 onwards use aluminium-intensive monocoque bodies that need specialist repair methods.
On older Defenders and Discoverys, corrosion is a bigger problem than accident damage: steel door frames, the bulkhead footwells and chassis crossmembers rust, and aluminium corrodes where it touches steel. On newer models, body parts often carry sensors, cameras and lights that must be transferred or recalibrated.

Questions
Common Questions About Land Rover body parts
How do I find my Land Rover's paint code?
It is usually on the vehicle identification plate or a label in the engine bay or door pillar. Send the paint code or the VIN with your request so body parts can be matched or painted correctly.
Can used body panels be colour-matched?
A used panel in the same paint code is a good start, but fading means it may still need blending by a panel shop. Unpainted new panels must be painted before fitting.
Why does aluminium bodywork on my Defender corrode?
Where aluminium panels touch steel, such as the chassis, door frames or brackets, galvanic corrosion occurs, especially with moisture and salt. Barrier tape, correct fasteners and sealant during repairs reduce it.
Does repairing a newer Range Rover body need a specialist?
Aluminium-intensive bodies need specific repair techniques, such as rivet-bonding, rather than conventional steel welding. Use a panel shop equipped for aluminium repairs.
