Understanding Spark Plugs
Spark plugs ignite the fuel and air mixture in petrol engines. Only petrol Land Rovers use them: engines such as the V8s in the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport, the supercharged V6 petrol, and the four-cylinder turbo petrol engines in the Evoque, Discovery Sport and Velar.
Diesel Land Rovers do not have spark plugs. They use glow plugs to help cold starting, which are listed as a separate category.

Questions
Common Questions About Land Rover spark plugs
Does my Land Rover diesel have spark plugs?
No. Diesel engines ignite fuel by compression and use glow plugs to help cold starts. If your Land Rover is a Td5, TDV6, SDV6, SDV8 or Ingenium diesel, look for glow plugs instead.
How often should spark plugs be changed on a petrol Range Rover?
Use the interval in your vehicle's service schedule. Long-life iridium or platinum plugs last longer than older copper types, but they still wear, and a worn plug puts extra strain on the ignition coil.
Should I replace ignition coils with spark plugs?
Not automatically. Replace a coil if it is faulty or if a misfire follows the coil when you swap it to another cylinder. Inspect the coil boots when changing plugs, as cracked boots can cause misfires.
What information do I need to order spark plugs?
The engine code or the VIN. Plug type, thread reach and heat range are specific to the engine, and using the wrong plug can cause misfires or damage.
