Understanding Front Bumper
The front bumper on a modern Land Rover is a plastic cover over an energy-absorbing beam, with mounting brackets, grilles and trim. It often carries parking sensors, fog lights, headlight washer jets, a front camera and, on newer models, radar sensors for driver assistance systems. Classic Defenders use a simple steel bumper bolted to the chassis.
Many overland Land Rovers are fitted with aftermarket steel bull bars or winch bumpers, which can affect airbag sensor operation and approach angles, so choose products designed for your model.

Common Questions About Land Rover front bumper
Do I need to transfer sensors from my old bumper?
Usually yes. Parking sensors, their holders, washer jets and cameras are often not included with a new bumper cover. Check what comes with the part, and have radar and camera systems recalibrated if they were disturbed.
Can a cracked plastic bumper be repaired?
Small cracks and broken tabs can often be plastic-welded and repainted. If the bumper has major splits or damaged sensor mounts, replacement is usually better.
Will a bull bar affect my Land Rover's airbags?
It can, if it is not designed for your model. Choose a bull bar that is tested for compatibility with the airbag system, and check that it does not block sensors or cooling airflow.
What should I send to order a front bumper?
The VIN, paint code, and whether the vehicle has parking sensors, headlight washers, fog lights or a front camera.
