Understanding Dashboard

The dashboard, or fascia, houses the instrument cluster, infotainment screen, air vents, passenger airbag and climate controls. Replacing a complete dashboard is a major job because much of the wiring, heater unit and airbags sit behind it.

The instrument cluster stores the vehicle's mileage and is linked to the vehicle's electronics, so a replacement cluster usually needs programming. Tampering with recorded mileage is illegal and misleading to future buyers.

Questions

Common Questions About Land Rover dashboard

Does a replacement instrument cluster need programming?

Usually yes. It must be coded to the vehicle and set to the correct mileage by a qualified workshop. Keep records of the change.

Can a cracked dashboard be repaired?

Small cracks can be repaired or covered by a trim specialist. Large cracks or warping usually mean replacing the dashboard top or the complete fascia.

Is it safe to remove the dashboard myself?

The passenger airbag and wiring make it a job for experienced hands. Disconnect the battery and follow airbag safety procedures, or use a workshop.

What should I send to order dashboard parts?

The VIN, trim colour and material, whether the vehicle is left- or right-hand drive, and photos.

Not sure which part fits?

Send your VIN or engine code and the SparesBoyz parts team will check fitment before quoting. Parts are couriered nationwide.
