Understanding Interior Lights

Interior lights include the roof console map lights, courtesy lights in the doors and footwells, load space lights, glovebox and vanity mirror lights, and on newer Range Rovers, ambient lighting. The roof console on many models also houses switches for the sunroof and other functions.

An interior light that stays on, or a door switch that does not register the door closing, can drain the battery overnight.

Questions

Common Questions About Land Rover interior lights

Why does my interior light stay on?

A faulty door latch switch that does not detect the door closing is a common cause. Check which door shows as open on the instrument cluster, then test that latch switch.

Can I replace interior bulbs with LEDs?

Often yes, but some modules check bulb current and may report a fault or flicker with LEDs. Choose bulbs designed for vehicles with bulb monitoring.

Is the roof console replaced as one part?

On many models the lenses, switches and housing can be bought separately, while on others it is one assembly. Send the VIN and a photo of the console for the right part.

What should I send to order interior lights?

The VIN, the location of the light, the trim colour and a photo. Roof consoles vary with sunroof and trim options.

Not sure which part fits?

Send your VIN or engine code and the SparesBoyz parts team will check fitment before quoting. Parts are couriered nationwide.
