Understanding Range Rover Sport (L461) Bushings
Suspension bushes are rubber or polyurethane sleeves that isolate vibration and let suspension arms pivot. A Land Rover has dozens of them: in the radius arms, trailing links and Panhard rod on classic models, and in the upper and lower arms, subframes and anti-roll bars on independent-suspension models.
Rubber perishes with heat, age and oil contamination. Worn bushes cause clunks, poor handling and uneven tyre wear, and they often wear faster on vehicles driven hard on gravel.

Common Questions About Range Rover Sport (L461) bushings
Should I choose rubber or polyurethane bushes?
Rubber bushes give a quieter, softer ride and match the original design. Polyurethane bushes last longer and sharpen handling but transmit more vibration and can squeak. On a daily-driven Land Rover, quality rubber bushes are usually the better choice; polyurethane suits hard-used off-road vehicles.
Which bushes wear first on a Land Rover?
On classic Defenders and Discovery 1 and 2, radius arm and Panhard rod bushes are common culprits. On Discovery 3 and 4 and Range Rover Sport, front lower arm bushes are a well-known wear point. Anti-roll bar bushes wear on almost every model.
Should bushes be tightened with the vehicle on the ground?
Yes. Rubber bushes should be tightened with the suspension at normal ride height, otherwise they are pre-loaded and wear quickly.
Can I press bushes out myself?
Some bushes can be changed with a press or bush tool, but others are bonded into the arm. If a bush is not sold separately, a complete arm is needed.
