What is specific to the Freelander 2

Diesel Freelander 2 derivatives use the 2.2 TD4 turbodiesel and 2.2 SD4 turbodiesel. Their pumps, injectors and filters are not shared with the petrol engines.

Petrol derivatives use the 3.2 i6 straight-six petrol and 2.0 Si4 turbo petrol.

Freelander 2 fuel system questions

What should I do if I put petrol in my diesel Land Rover?

Do not start the engine. If you have already driven, stop as soon as it is safe and switch off. Have the tank drained and the system flushed. Running a modern diesel on petrol can damage the high-pressure pump and injectors.

How do I bleed air out of my diesel fuel system?

Many modern Land Rovers bleed themselves when the ignition is cycled several times. Older engines may need manual priming. Follow the procedure for your engine, and fix the cause of the air leak.
