What is specific to the Range Rover Sport (L320)

Suspension layout on the Range Rover Sport (L320): Permanent four-wheel drive with Terrain Response and air suspension, built on the Discovery 3 and 4 integrated body-frame.

Where air suspension is fitted, the springs, compressor, valve block and height sensors are covered separately under air suspension. This page is for the arms, bushes, dampers and other conventional suspension parts.

Have this ready when you enquire

  • The 17-character VIN from your licence document, which identifies your exact L320 (sold here 2005–2013) and its build.
  • The exact derivative, for example TDV6 HSE, SDV6 HSE, SDV6 HSE Luxury and 3.6 TDV8, as listed on your licence document.
  • Whether the vehicle is on air or steel springs (air suspension is recorded for this model).
  • A photo of the old part or its part number, if you can get to it.

Parts commonly needed for the Range Rover Sport (L320)

Parts commonly needed on the Range Rover Sport L320 include air suspension parts, front lower arms and anti-roll bar bushes, hub bearings, brake discs and pads, and electronic handbrake parts. When one front lower arm or anti-roll bar bush is worn, the other side is usually close behind, so many owners order both sides and a wheel alignment together to avoid paying for the same labour twice.

Range Rover Sport (L320) suspension questions

Does my Land Rover have air suspension or coil springs?

Discovery 3, Discovery 4, Range Rover Sport and full-size Range Rovers from the L322 onwards mostly use air suspension, and you will see ride height controls on the dashboard or centre console. Classic Defenders, Discovery 1 and most Freelanders, Evoques and Discovery Sports use coil springs. Some models, including the Discovery 2, Discovery 5, Velar and new Defender, were offered with either depending on version. Check the VIN or look for air springs at the wheels.

Why does my Land Rover clunk over bumps?

Worn anti-roll bar drop links, bushes and ball joints are the most common causes. On coil-sprung Defenders and Discoverys, check radius arm and Panhard rod bushes. On Discovery 3 and 4, front lower arm bushes are a common wear point. A workshop can pinpoint it with the vehicle on a lift.
