Electronic handbrake problems
Handbrakes that screech, fail to release or lock the rear wheels are a known L320 fault, sometimes needing a new actuator as well as shoes and drums.

Brake parts sized for heavy Land Rover SUVs, from pads and discs to calipers and parking brake components.
Brake parts for the Range Rover Sport (L320) (2005–2013) are matched to the derivative and model year rather than the model name alone. Local derivatives range from the TDV6 HSE to the Supercharged.
Drivetrain: Permanent four-wheel drive with Terrain Response and air suspension, built on the Discovery 3 and 4 integrated body-frame.
Handbrakes that screech, fail to release or lock the rear wheels are a known L320 fault, sometimes needing a new actuator as well as shoes and drums.
Parts commonly needed on the Range Rover Sport L320 include air suspension parts, front lower arms and anti-roll bar bushes, hub bearings, brake discs and pads, and electronic handbrake parts.
Weight is the main reason. Discovery and Range Rover models are heavy, and towing, off-road driving, mountain passes and stop-start city traffic all add to the load. Engine braking in a lower gear on long descents takes strain off the brakes and helps the pads and discs last longer.
Replace discs whenever they are below minimum thickness, badly scored or warped. Many workshops fit new discs with every second set of pads on heavy Land Rovers. Always replace pads and discs in axle pairs, both front or both rear, so the vehicle brakes evenly.
For how these parts work and the signs of wear, read the Land Rover brakes guide.
