Oil in the injector wiring loom
Oil entering the Td5 injector loom can seep as far as the engine ECU and cause erratic running and engine management faults.
Discovery · Series II (L318) · 1999–2004
Charging, starting, control modules and wiring for Land Rover models.
The Discovery 2 was sold with both fuel types. Diesel derivatives (2.5 Td5 five-cylinder turbodiesel) use glow plugs, while petrol derivatives (V8 petrol) use spark plugs and ignition coils.
Electrical parts also changed across the 1999–2004 production span, so give the model year with the VIN.

Modern Land Rovers are very sensitive to low voltage. A tired battery or poor earth connection can make several modules log faults at the same time. Test the battery and charging system, check the main earth points, then clear the codes and see which faults return.
A parasitic drain, where something stays on after the vehicle is locked, is the usual cause. Common culprits include a module that does not go to sleep, an aftermarket accessory, a faulty relay or an interior light switch. A workshop can measure the current drain and pull fuses one at a time to find it.
For how these parts work and the signs of wear, read the Land Rover electrical guide.
Share the VIN and engine number and the SparesBoyz parts team will check fitment before quoting.
