Understanding Headliner

The headlining is the fabric-covered roof lining inside the cabin. It is glued to a moulded board, and it often carries grab handles, sun visors, lights and, on models with a sunroof or roof windows, openings and trims.

Heat breaks down the adhesive over time, so the fabric sags away from the board. This is common on older vehicles parked in the sun, and it is usually fixed by recovering the board rather than buying a new one.

Questions

Common Questions About Land Rover headliner

Can I glue my sagging headlining back up?

Spray adhesive or pins are temporary fixes. The foam backing usually disintegrates, so a lasting repair means removing the board, cleaning it and recovering it with new fabric.

Why is my headlining stained?

Water from a blocked sunroof drain, a leaking roof window seal, roof rack mounts or an aerial seal is the usual cause. Fix the leak before replacing the headlining.

Does a replacement headlining fit models with and without a sunroof?

No. The board is shaped for the roof openings, so match it to your vehicle's roof specification.

What should I send to order a headlining?

The VIN, headlining colour, and whether the vehicle has a sunroof or roof windows.

Not sure which part fits?

Send your VIN or engine code and the SparesBoyz parts team will check fitment before quoting. Parts are couriered nationwide.
