Understanding Left Rear Quarter Panel
The rear quarter panel, or rear wing, covers the rear wheel and runs from the rear door to the tail light. On monocoque Land Rovers such as the Discovery 3 onwards, Range Rover and Evoque, the quarter panel is part of the body structure and replacing it involves cutting and bonding or welding. On classic Defenders, the rear body side panels are separate aluminium panels that are riveted and bolted in place.
Because it is structural on modern models, quarter panel repairs are panel shop work and often repair sections are used rather than full panels.

Questions
Common Questions About Land Rover left rear quarter panel
Can a quarter panel be replaced like a bolt-on panel?
On modern monocoque Land Rovers, no. It is part of the body and must be cut out and bonded or welded by a panel shop. On classic Defenders, rear body panels are riveted and bolted, which is simpler.
Is a repair section better than a full quarter panel?
Repair sections limit the amount of structure that is cut away and are common for localised damage. A panel shop will advise based on the extent of the damage.
Do aluminium quarter panels need special repair?
Yes. On aluminium-intensive Land Rovers, repairs need aluminium-specific tools and methods.
What should I send to order a left rear quarter panel?
The VIN, paint code and photos of the damage, so the right panel or repair section is identified.
